My best friend and I stopped here after a visit to a nearby spring; needless to say we were searching for a place that would not mind we were not dressed up, AT ALL. We found Lagerheads on Yelp and decided to stop..they were much more crowded than we had anticipated. Service was a little slow but the waitress seemed to have her hands full and we were in no hurry. I ordered the fish and chips and it was PERFECT I have absolutely nothing bad to say about the food. I would definitely recommend this place to others as well as stop in again.

We stop here every time we're in town. We love the food, drinks, staff and the view can't be beat!

We rode our bicycles over for a few beers and appetizers. We had the steamed Cedar Key clams which were good but the seared ahi tuna was off the chain. Much better than I expected. I had a few Hopsecutioners which was good too. It's a neighborhood bar and grill and we'll be back.

Comfortable, casual beachy atmosphere. Limited but very good seafood menu. We had the blackened grouper and the shrimp Po Boy Sandwich. Both were very good, as was the New England Clam chowder. Live entertainment added to our pleasant experience.

Bleh. I should've listened to the Yelp reviews, but to my defense this wasn't my choice. I was visiting a friend in the area and this restaurant was less than a mile away from her apartment. Lagerhead's is located across the street from the beach and if you decide to seat outside, you do get a partial view of the ocean, basically the only thing I enjoyed from my experience. For once my group wasn't in a drinking mood, so we only ordered water (good idea after all). My gf and I ordered the hot chicken wings and the blackened grouper fillet, which comes with 2 sides (we chose sweet potatoes and vegetables). The fish was not fresh and lacked seasoning, the vegetables were bland and the sweet potatoes were soggy. The wings were also a huge disappointment, the chicken was chewy and I'm afraid it tasted like they came out of a bag or had been cooked a while ago. We decide to order clams strips to go and this was the only food we liked. I think some of the other reviewers suggested to order their fried seafood, because it's hard to mess that up and I agree. The fact that the restaurant was old and run down didn't bother me; a lot of times places like this by the water have the best and freshest seafood. Unfortunately, Lagerhead's is not one of them. Also the service left a lot to be desired and our waitress had an attitude. I gave it 2 stars instead of 1 because of the location/view and the live music.

  • Sara C.

Aged but beachy decor. Place looks a little dirty (flies dead in window seal). The service was slow but waitress really nice about it. They had live music outside on the patio playing Jimmy Buffett on a Friday night. The food was good and that's what got the four stars. We tried the crabcakes...decent but of course I found shell in mine. We both got fried fish and seafood baskets which you cannot go wrong with. The fish was delicious! I also got shrimp and clams - hold the oysters which were yummy as well. They have regular or sweet potato fries and both were good. This is a good spot in between Ormond beach and Flagler beach if you are hungry!

  • Maureen S.

I was happy the food came out so fast. Not surprising, food was undercooked.... That explains why the food came out so fast. French fries were far from done. Coleslaw tasted "spoiled". Sat outside, chairs were sticky, table sticky. Eeeesh. Musician playing was really good. That was the best part about the whole place. Not the best service.

The best grouper sandwich I've ever had! The grouper reuben is amazing. I'm already thinking about when I can come back and order it again. Our dog loved it here just as much as we did. The staff greeted us immediately and brought out a bowl of water for our dog. Everyone was so kind and took time to stop by and pet our dog. They even brought her a dog treat! We really enjoyed the laid back beach atmosphere!

We can walk to this place from our condo, so we come here often. Tonight I asked for an off menu salad. I wanted the Greek salad with shrimp instead of chicken. They were quite busy, but our food came out promptly and the shrimp were great. They didn't charge extra for the substitution which was a nice surprise.

Cute place with a nice outside sitting overlooking the ocean. I order the grilled Vegetable wrap with chicken tortilla soup which is bit spicy just the way I like it. My husband order their fish and chips made from haddock.

  • Rod H.

This place is near our beach getaway so we gave it a try for lunch. My wife had the fish tacos and I had a grouper reuben. I was pleased with both and we each had sweet potato fries with the raspberry sauce. They have a full bar and great beer selection. We came back for dinner and the food was equal to lunch but our server was having a bad day. They had live music and whats better than music, the ocean, and cold beer.

  • Pat U.

Any one who thinks this place knows how to make a fish taco doesn't know what an authentic fish taco should be. Period. BIG disappointment. There was: NO Pico de Gallo WRONG! NO shredded cabbage (they used lettuce) WRONG! NO Cilantro NO white sauce (they offered sour cream on the side) WRONG! NO black olives NO lime (came with lemon) Lemon? Who puts lemon on a fish taco? WRONG! NO CLUE! One more thing - Key Lime Pie is supposed to taste like the LIMES, not the sugar. And it is not supposed to have meringue on the top. Seriously. Get real, people. Otherwise it would be called "Key Meringue Pie". Nice deck. Great ocean view.

  • Lynnette W.

This really should be a 'no star' review but the only thing this place has going for it is location. Right across the road from a beautiful beach. The two drinks ordered from the bar came with bugs and bug pieces floating around and the seafood platter ordered was very greasy. The fries in the basket were soggy. Not a good experience at all.

My Mom wanted to come here for Mother's Day breakfast, but they said they ended service early. The reason they had to end breakfast early is because, "they got slammed". I am in such disbelief they actually were busy on Mother's Day who would of thought that. Poor management usually equals a bad Restaurant experience usually. To bad they lost out on our party of 10.

Homey roadside bar and grill. Seating available with nice view of ocean across the street. Fried oysters and fried fish were both cooked perfectly. Sweet potato fries come with a raspberry/ jalapeño dip. Nice atmosphere. Outdoor big screen TV. Only drawback is they allow smoking on the porch.

I registered specifically to write this review. I live right down the road so it is very frustrating how bad this place is. To start it has very slow service (although they are nice). You will wait a long time to be waited on, to get a refill, etc. The food is terrible. I've been here over a dozen times and it's never good. I keep trying because I live so close and there isn't another place around for miles. The mixed drinks are consistently terrible and over priced. I switched to wine to at least attempt to enjoy an alcoholic beverage and even that they give it in an extremely small glass (although the actual glass size varies). The location, view and live music are awesome. Your best bet is to order something fried (can't be messed up) and drink beer. Order everything at the bar and be your own server.

We've been here several times since we moved here in January. The food has not disappointed yet and our service has always been great! The fish sandwich has enough fish on it for two meals and the crab cake croissant is chock full of real crab meat, not bread crumbs with crab flavoring! It is a beautiful location across the street from the beach. I have no idea why someone who has been here "a dozen times" and "never" had good service or food would return a second time!?!? This place is great and if you live in the area as we do, you know that great places like this are busy during peak season and especially on weekends. You definitely have to wait on things--EVERYWHERE! (Of course to get around this waiting you can visit at slower times of the day like 3-5pm and get super fast service and the same delicious food that will keep you full for the rest of the day!)

Have eaten here several times and have had inconsistent experiences. The servers are friendly and the atmosphere is perfect for a causal beachside eatery. I have never had a problem with long waiting times for food as others have mentioned. My only complaint is that quality of the meals can vary. I think the key to a good experience at Lagerheads is keeping it simple. Burgers are great but more complex dishes are a bit lacking.

Not sure what the regular food here is like, but we stopped here for breakfast on Sunday morning because of their gorgeous view. We sat outside in the breezy, covered area. My kids had the bananas foster French toast and the blue monkey pancakes. They cleaned their plates with no problem. My food and my husbands was pretty good as well. He had an omelette and I had the hash and eggs. Definitely worth a shot to me.

RATS!!!! While sitting eating a below average meal, rats were running across the deck. NEVER GOING AGAIN. The waitress was not surprised when over 10 of us watched the rat run around for over an hour. The bathrooms smell awful and never clean. Tried to give this place one last shot since we live so close and there's not another bar/restaurant for a few miles. We will drive elsewhere or eat at home minus dirty bathrooms and rats! So sad since the bar could be a gem sitting across the street from a beach.

I always start a new place out with a Burger ... now we are in the $10 Burger Era, it's time to judge the grilled ground beef sandwich like the commodity it is! Cheeseburger for $10.45 did not disappoint. At all! Why doesn't everyone ditch the Kaiser for the (nicely grilled indeed) Brioche, should be a new way of the world. Makes the bread-to-meat ratio much more pleasing to me. Cooked to medium or a little past (kind of dark at the bar where I was sitting). Very much the same as my positive review of the Black Sheep's burger, except I got a little surprise. The slaw (sub for fries) was fresh and a little spicy - top notch. For a Monday night at 8, and less than 10 people in the place, I got exactly what I wanted. I shall return often, I now live in the zip code. 2 separate friends said the Grouper Rueben was great, by the way.

I get to the area twice a year and like I stop at random places. I have been to this one before, but didn't remember it so it couldn't have been bad right? Well I won't forget tonight. I had almost 45 minutes to think about it while we waited for our food. I was then reminded of it when I got the food and it was lacking on both heat and flavor. The fries were cold, which was good so I could really notice the lack of flavor. The grilled chicken sandwich was just that. I think... Because it was cold when I got it. At least it too was cold but it was the dryness that actually pissed me off. I won't forget this place, and my advice is that you drive right by.

Why 2 stars? Being a Flagler resident, I figured I should try Lagerheads out. We sat outside and picked the special of the day; blackened shrimp with grits and a kids fish and chips. Our order took about 40 minutes to arrive, and the food was simple and nothing worth the wait. I probably won't be coming back for food.

We did not come in for food, we just came here on Sunday night for some drinks and company. There was a nice band playing and we were able to hang outside and talk with people. I have no feedback on good other than we saw a lot of people eating while we were there.

Ate here with my wife on a Sunday afternoon around 3:30. When we got there the crowd was light and we sat down at an outside table. The atmosphere is dive bar with a view of the ocean, except that the ocean is on the other side of the parking area and across the road and over a dune so mostly your view is of the front bumper of parked cars and cars whizzing by on the road. As we sat waiting for a server the first thing we noticed were the flies flying about us and crawling on the table, and since it was looking like rain we decided to move to an inside table. Once inside a friendly server did greet us and tell us to sit anywhere ( 4 tables to choose from, yes it's very small). Another server was busily killing flies against the windows with a fly swatter and flicking their bodies onto the floor. I saw at least one fall onto a table and it too was flicked to the floor with no cleanup of the table. She gave us a big smile and announced "I'm on fly swatter duty". Incredibly the fly problem was worse inside than outside. We were hungry and against our better judgement decided to stay. A friendly waiter dropped off menus and took our drink order which were delivered without too much of a wait . Our waiter then told us he had two tables at the same time so he was going to see what they needed and would be back. Eventually we were able to order, shrimp po-boy for me and grouper reuben for her. As other reviewers have noted, be prepared for a long wait for your food. The food. Shrimp po-boy was good, 6 decent sized fried shrimp on a grilled roll with lettuce and tomato served with a pretty good remoulade on the side. Grouper reuben was slightly fishy tasting and obviously not fresh, also my wife suspected it was not actually grouper based on the appearance of the fillet. The low rating is based on the horrible fly problem and the unsanitary method of dealing with it, as well as the poorly executed grouper sandwich. We do plan on giving it one more try on a sunny day when we can sit outside.
